Dynamics 365 AI integration for Sales, Customer Service and Dataverse

Copilot is Microsoft's AI in Dynamics 365. We connect Claude to the same environment through the Dataverse MCP server, Copilot Studio or the Web API, for jobs your rules define. Which writes a person approves is your decision.

How does a Dynamics 365 AI integration work?

A Dynamics 365 AI integration from AILoopwise connects Claude to your Dataverse environment through Microsoft's Dataverse MCP server or the Web API, once a Power Platform admin allows the client. Claude reads leads, opportunities and cases with each user's own access, drafts emails and updates, and you choose which writes a named person approves.

Where things stand

  • As of 2026-11-04, Microsoft's Dataverse MCP documentation names Claude desktop and Claude Code as clients; an admin must allow each non-Microsoft client per environment.1,3
  • As of 2026-11-04, Microsoft's page on the Dynamics 365 Sales MCP server says Claude Desktop isn't supported at this time.9
  • Since 2025-12-15, Dataverse MCP tools cost Copilot credits when agents built outside Copilot Studio call them, unless a Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot licence covers the data.1
  • As of 2026-11-04, Copilot Studio lists Claude Sonnet 4.6 and Claude Opus 4.6, 4.7 and 4.8 as generally available primary models, marked cross-geo outside the United States.11

What we work on in Microsoft Dynamics 365

  • Dynamics 365 Sales

Microsoft's sales app in the Sales Hub: leads, accounts, opportunities, the forecast grid, and assignment rules in the sales accelerator.

Keeping Sales Stage, forecast category and Est. close date true to the activity, routing leads the rules leave unassigned, and drafting follow-ups.

Route: Copilot in the app; Claude through the Dataverse MCP server or a Web API build.

Limits: Assignment rules run on a polling cycle, so a new lead can wait for an owner.19,20,21,6,1

  • Dynamics 365 Customer Service

Microsoft's service app: cases, queues and knowledge articles, worked in the Copilot Service workspace.

Hand-off notes on escalated cases, reply drafts that cite a knowledge article, and knowledge drafts from solved cases.

Route: Copilot case summaries, the Copilot help pane and email assist; Claude through Dataverse for rules only your team has.

Limits: Copilot skips a case summary when the source case fields hold fewer than 38 words.12,13,1

  • Dynamics 365 Customer Insights

Customer Insights - Data, Microsoft's customer data platform for unified profiles, and Customer Insights - Journeys for segment-based and trigger-based journeys.

Turning a brief into segment criteria, checking journey conditions before launch, and preparing engaged contacts for sales.

Route: Natural language input for journey conditions in Journeys. How segments reach an outside client is settled with your admin.

Limits: A journey sends email to real people, so the launch stays with the marketing manager.14,15,16

  • Copilot and the Sales agent

Microsoft's AI in Dynamics 365: record summaries, recent changes, meeting preparation, email help and SharePoint answers.

A seller's questions about their own records from Outlook or Teams, and meeting briefs.

Route: Native. Sales Enterprise or Premium users without Microsoft 365 Copilot get the Sales agent on CRM data only.

Limits: The Sales agent returns at most 30 CRM records per answer.6,27,7

  • Microsoft Dataverse

The data platform under Dynamics 365: each lead, opportunity, case and activity is a row in a Dataverse table.

One read path for Claude across Sales and Customer Service tables, with read_query for SQL SELECT reads.

Route: The Dataverse MCP server at your environment's /api/mcp; the Web API and webhooks for jobs that start on a record event.

Limits: Its MCP tools cost Copilot credits outside Copilot Studio unless the user's licence exempts the data.19,1,5

  • Power Automate

Microsoft's flow builder. Its Dataverse trigger, When a row is added, modified or deleted, starts a cloud flow on a table, scope and columns you choose.

Starting a Claude step only when a column that matters changes, such as a case owner.

Route: A cloud flow calls our service; Dataverse actions can run as the row owner or modifying user.

Limits: It fires on every update that includes a selected column, even an unchanged one, so we add a row filter.17

  • Microsoft Copilot Studio

Microsoft's agent builder, the platform under the Sales Qualification Agent, and the Dataverse MCP client that is on by default.

Agents that reason with Claude while Microsoft's admin settings and Copilot billing govern them.

Route: Pick Claude Sonnet or Claude Opus as the agent's primary model on its Overview page.

Limits: Outside the United States, Microsoft marks the Claude models cross-geo: data may be processed outside your region.11,7,3

How we connect

Four routes to AI in Dynamics 365 CRM. Your licences, your Power Platform admin and who starts the job decide which fit.

Copilot in Dynamics 365 Sales already summarises records, prepares meetings and drafts email; Microsoft names the Sales agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot its successor. If your licences include it and it covers your fields, use Copilot and build nothing. A Claude build earns its place where the rule is yours, a record event starts the job, or the job spans Sales and Customer Service.

AILoopwise is Certified in the Claude Partner Network.

Is this a fit?

A good fit

  • Sales Hub teams whose Sales Stage and Est. close date lag behind the activity
  • Customer Service teams that rewrite the same knowledge article answer daily
  • Environments whose licences exclude Copilot, or whose custom tables Copilot does not read
  • Power Platform admins who want Claude under existing security roles, starting read-only

Not a fit

  • Copilot in Dynamics 365 is licensed and already covers the summaries and drafts you work by
  • A bulk data migration or a data model rebuild: that is a Dynamics 365 project first

Limits and data handling

  • From 2025-12-15, Dataverse MCP tools cost Copilot credits for agents built outside Copilot Studio, except on Dynamics 365 data for users with Dynamics 365 Premium or a Microsoft 365 Copilot USL.1
  • Only the Copilot Studio client is on by default. A Power Platform administrator allows Claude per environment; the local proxy also needs tenant admin consent once.3,2
  • By default Dataverse allows each user 6,000 requests and 20 minutes of execution time per five minutes on each web server; application users included.4
  • A Dataverse webhook times out after 60 seconds and is retried once, only after a gateway error.5

We agree with you, per project, where each part of the system runs and who can access the data, typically inside your own systems and accounts. When we use Claude through Anthropic's API, the model call runs at Anthropic and is governed by contract.

How a project runs

  1. 01

Find the loop We sit with your team and list the work that comes back every week. Then we pick the loop that costs the most hours.

  2. 02

Map it Every step, every tool, every decision: where the inquiry lands, who touches it, what they look up, where the time goes.

  3. 03

Build the agents Each step gets an agent with the skills to do it inside your tools. One reads and sorts every inquiry, one logs it in the CRM, one pulls up the customer's history, one drafts the reply and the follow-ups.

  4. 04

Add the checkers A second set of agents checks every result: wrong data, a duplicate, a missed follow-up. Anything unclear goes to a person.

  5. 05

Close the loop The loop runs. Your team approves, handles the exceptions and talks to the customer.

Step 2 includes your Power Platform admin, who allows the MCP client or registers the Entra app; we agree which tables and tools it may use.

Questions about Microsoft Dynamics 365

Does Dynamics 365 have AI?
Yes. Microsoft's AI in Dynamics 365 is Copilot: record summaries, meeting preparation and email help in Sales, case summaries and reply drafts in Customer Service, and the Sales Qualification Agent for lead research. AILoopwise adds Claude where your own rules, record events or custom tables decide the job.
What are the Dynamics 365 Copilot features?
Microsoft lists seven for Copilot in Dynamics 365 Sales: record summarization, summaries embedded in lead and opportunity forms, recent changes, SharePoint answers, meeting preparation, email assistance and account news. Copilot reads only what the signed-in user can access. Microsoft says the Sales agent will become the preferred way to reach it.
How do I connect Dynamics 365 to Claude?
Through the Dataverse MCP server, which Microsoft documents for Claude desktop and Claude Code, via the @microsoft/dataverse proxy or an Entra app with the mcp.tools permission. Your Power Platform admin first allows the client. Claude desktop can switch individual Dataverse tools on and off, so a team can start with reads only.
Is there a Dynamics 365 Claude connector?
Not under the Dynamics 365 name. As of 2026-11-04, Claude’s directory lists a Microsoft Dataverse connector made by Microsoft, and Dataverse holds the Dynamics 365 tables. The listing does not mention Dynamics 365 and still shows tools, such as fetch, that Microsoft’s own docs list as removed, so AILoopwise checks the tools against your environment first.
Is there a Dynamics 365 MCP server?
There are two. The Dataverse MCP server reads and writes Dynamics 365 tables and names Claude as a client. The Dynamics 365 Sales MCP server adds Microsoft's sales tools, such as get_opportunity_health, but its page says Claude Desktop isn't supported at this time.
What is the best AI for Dynamics 365?
It depends on your licences and the job. Copilot works inside the app on what each seller can see. Claude fits rules you define, jobs started by record events, and work across Sales and Customer Service. The two combine: Copilot Studio lists Claude models as primary models for its agents.
What do Dynamics 365 Copilot credits cost?
Microsoft sets that in your agreement, and only Microsoft quotes its licence prices. The cost drivers are your users' Dynamics 365 and Microsoft 365 Copilot licences, credits for Dataverse MCP calls those licences do not cover, Claude usage per job, and the number of jobs we run.
What are the Dynamics 365 sales AI agents?
Microsoft ships the Sales Qualification Agent, which researches assigned leads in Research-only mode or also emails them in Research and engage mode, and the Sales agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot for CRM questions. The Sales Qualification Agent cannot be deleted without Microsoft support.
